Growing Things: A New Hobby

So the other day Brent came home with a big smile on his face and a bag. Inside was a sprout growing kit. He picked out peas for our first time, and as you can see, they grew wonderfully! It only took a few days, and it was really fun to see them sprout. They are also a wonderful snack. I am addicted and may be turning our kitchen into a sprout farm soon. Who knows?

As I talked about before, Brent and I rented a community garden plot. See look! That's our name on the map!

Here's a view of the whole garden. It's not that big, but it's super nice and well kept.

Our plot isn't that big, but here it is in all it's glory.

Here are some glamour shots of our plants:

Kale:

Peas:

Radishes:

Lettuce:

Carrots:

And this is the watering system. It's on a timer of 30 mins so you just turn and leave.

You'd think a garden would be enough for us. But we are out to plant the world people. We've got plants growing in our kitchen, in out living room, in a garden, and also on the front porch. So here is our pot of radishes.

So there's the huge update on our plants. Gotta love them. However, I'm very excited for when I can actually eat something. It's all about the food.

Brent and I will be taking a WE ARE DONE WITH SCHOOL (for now) trip next week to Zion's National Park, so I'm sure some very handsome pictures of Brent and some red-faced puffing up the mountain pictures of me will be happening soon.

Easter The Shumway...Way

It was such a beautiful day Sunday! I'm so excited that the flowers are growing! Example:

Since we live right by my parents, Brent and I get to spend a lot of time with my family! We got to spend all day with them for easter. My brother Spencer and his wife Sherry came over with my new niece Elly. Let's just take a minute...and appreciate her cuteness.

(we did an Elly egg hunt in the backyard and a big kids hunt in the front yard)

(she shared her candy in her eggs with everyone)

We had a lot of fun watching Elly get her eggs. They were really hard to spot...but I finally found one!

Okay, more of a serious picture

We had a lot of fun hiding the eggs in the front yard for my brothers. We may have buried a few...and placed one inside the bird-feeder..but we couldn't trick them! They found them all. Wow, gotta love the egg hunts. However, getting back to the real meaning of Easter, here's a video that I love:

It's amazing what Christ did for us! It is amazing to have someone love us so much that he died for us!
